Colleague Spotlight: Sam Callaghan

Meet Sam Callaghan, Vice President of EMEA Sales at ConnectWise. Sam has been a vital part of the ConnectWise team for over eight years, where he has grown into the leadership role of vice president overseeing the sales team. We’ll explore more about his career development at ConnectWise and how he continues to play a part in our partners’ journeys to success.

Getting started at ConnectWise 

What did you do before joining ConnectWise?   

After graduating from Bristol University with a BSc in Chemistry, I started my career in technology in London, where the first company I worked for was in the stage of hyper-growth. I joined as employee number five, and the team grew tenfold in the next 12 months. I was hooked on the fast-paced nature and partner-centric mindset that so many successful SaaS businesses were built on. Since then, I have always worked in customer and partner-centric roles. Before joining ConnectWise, I worked for a large private software business, delivering the UK and Ireland region go-to-market plan within the revenue team. When the role at ConnectWise came up through a referral, I jumped at the opportunity to embark on a journey to drive the growth of The IT Nation outside North America.
  

Being a ConnectWise colleague 

What different roles have you had with the company?   
Five roles over the eight years, starting as a Channel Account Manager supporting our value-added distributors (VADs) across EMEA, before moving into an individual contributor role as Regional Sales Manager when the team expanded. Subsequently, I progressed into management and leadership positions, to become Vice President of EMEA Sales recently.

What do you enjoy about working at ConnectWise?   
When there is camaraderie between colleagues and partners, there is never a dull day. The ConnectWise company ethos is focused on its partners and colleagues and how to set them up for success in alignment with the business’s objectives. It is very rewarding to play a small part in our partners’ journeys to success.

What’s something about your job that makes you feel accomplished?   

ConnectWise provides a comprehensive onboarding and continuous training process. Over the last few years, we have added leadership training and development, as well as a catalogue of learning and certifications for colleagues to enrich their learning.  

The technology landscape is developing exponentially, and our partners are evolving to rise to the occasion. This provides ConnectWise and its colleagues with a frontline view of the changes that are occurring.

What’s something that you want people to know about ConnectWise?  

We are hiring!

What’s a big win that you’re proud of?   

Seeing our team and business grow from strength to strength. We may not be perfect, but it’s noticeable that we are driven to evolve and impress, and we’re always moving towards greater success.

To travel through time and space, to be a fly on the wall for some historic moments, and get a sneak peek of next week’s lottery numbers.

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

What’s one bucket list item you’re looking forward to?   

Getting married, as my wedding had been postponed due to COVID-19.
