Tell us about your company.

Established in 1980, KST is one of the New York metropolitan area’s oldest and most trusted network and security services integrators. We combine the highest level of technical expertise with a passionate commitment to customer service. Headquartered in Midtown Manhattan, we serve small to midsized businesses (SMBs) throughout the tri-state area.

KST specializes in three areas:

  • Microsoft networking infrastructure implementation and support services, with a very strong emphasis on virtualization and cloud computing
  • Cybersecurity, disaster preparedness, and compliance governance solutions
  • Outsourced IT support services featuring proactive management, advanced automation and detection/protection tools, and long-term technology guidance.

KST prides itself on maintaining best-in-class response time metrics, and our proven processes and best practice standardization consistently reduce the number of issues our clients experience.

What’s a big win that you’re proud of?

We have been focused on advanced security solutions since 2001. We built our first private cloud infrastructure in 2011, and our first clients are still working in our cloud today.

What’s next for you and your business?

We are looking forward to adding AI tools to our systems to improve our responses, resolution, and efficiencies.

About the industry

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing the industry?

Cloud computing and hybrid work environments have made the user and their devices the critical targets to protect. The bad actors will continue to get more and more sophisticated, so our challenge is to continue to add stronger detection and protection capabilities without constraining the user’s ability to work.

Is there one piece of advice you’d like to share with other IT solution providers?

One piece of advice I’d share would be to join a peer group and focus on your gross margin and EBITDA.

Tell us a fun fact about you or your company.

I started out as a tennis pro, and then learned quickly when I joined the corporate workforce that winning the competition doesn’t mean you get the prize. So, I looked for an opportunity where I could control my own destiny, and found apple computers.

What’s a country or state you’d like to visit?

I love to travel, and I would say an African Safari with my son would be next.

What is one of your bucket list items?

I would love to go on an exotic fishing trip, and another golf trip to Scotland.
