Solution
The PitchIT competition delivered future-forward solutions in a 5-minute pitch. This allowed Matrix the opportunity to quickly evaluate and selection from the candidates.
Results
Matrix selected two organizations to support their growing business.

While not actively seeking a specific solution, Rob Wildman, Vice President, Business Unit said it like this: “PitchIT was the perfect combination of a sales presentation without the pressures of a sales environment. It opened our eyes to what is out there and how it may help us. We also had the ability to hear the pitches, discuss them as a team, meet privately with the competitors we were interested in; and evaluate the potential impact on our business effectiveness.”

“We have improved customer retention. Our data is better. But, more importantly, our customer experience has improved. It’s ‘sticky’ and that is the (intangible) metric that matters. We aim to continuously deliver a frictionless experience for our customers.” said Mack.

PitchIT was one such fruitful stumble for Matrix Integration.

This incubator of innovation is quickly becoming a can’t-miss event for anyone seeking to deepen their tech stack or one that seeks a competitive advantage.

Matrix Integration is a managed services provider (MSP) that provides installation, operation and training support for the latest telecommunication and video conferencing systems. As a long-standing Partner of ConnectWise, and an active leader of the ConnectWise-Chicago user group, they regularly attend IT Nation events and embrace new content, technology and innovation to improve their business, elevate customer experience and strengthen their position in the market.

Having attended IT Nation Orlando many times, Juan Mack, IT Services Manager, knew what to expect – or he thought he did. He would have a jam-packed schedule of educational sessions, meetings with like-minded peers, consultation with vendors to build a deeper tech stack and engage in key conversations with stakeholders at ConnectWise.

“When you go to IT Nation Orlando, you are focused on a few core things – networking, finding out what’s new (ex. visiting the Solutions Pavilion) and attending every educational session we can. There’s so much going on it can be challenging to get everything in.”

Then they heard about PitchIT.

Mack said “I initially found out about PitchIT through word of mouth (ConnectWise evangelist, Sean Lardo) and it piqued my interest. Now, having experienced it for myself, I do what I can to spread the word about how uniquely powerful this was for us - and I encourage everyone to attend.”

Juan and Rob reshuffled their pre-planned routine.

They sought out the venue and attended the PitchIT presentation rounds.

Innovators of varying types were there. In fact, there were 18, all with an innovative function and value proposition. Examples of the candidates and the services they are seeking to bring to market were:

  • A Operations Management Alert Tool
  • A Marketing catalog and curation solution
  • An market readiness assessment service

And albeit in a competitive environment, the competitors - the innovators themselves, the ones vying for the same grand prize - formed a community.

While not actively seeking a specific solution, Rob Wildman, Vice President, Business Unit said it like this: “PitchIT was the perfect combination of a sales presentation without the pressures of a sales environment. We also had the ability to hear the pitches, discuss them as a team, meet privately with the competitors we were interested in; and evaluate the potential impact on our business effectiveness.”

Although Matrix Integration didn’t have a specific challenge going into it, in the end, they found a solution. HumanizeIT (a modern technical account management solution) and Vohani (a penetration testing tool) were hired by Matrix. While only six months into this MSP-vendor partnership, the Matrix team is already seeing positive outcomes.

“We have improved customer retention. Our data is better. But, more importantly, our customer experience has improved. It’s ‘sticky’ and that is the (intangible) metric that matters. We aim to continuously deliver a frictionless experience for our customers.” said Mack.

Wildman summed it up like this: “PitchIT was the single biggest highlight of IT Nation. Period.”
