Advanced Network Products (ANP) is a managed service provider (MSP) with clients in the mid-Atlantic region (Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and New York). As a team of 20 employees with over 2,000 endpoints to manage, ANP wanted to leverage a cloud-based RMM that didn’t require manual updates and patching. Offloading the management of RMM and its technical risk to ConnectWise was a great move for their business.

When business grew for Advanced Network Products (ANP), they knew they needed to solve one problem—removing the manual processes of managing their RMM software. With their team stretched thin, they found it hard to keep up with day-to-day endpoint management and patch updates. ANP needed a system that was easy to set up and did not require a dedicated resource. As an existing ConnectWise partner, they believed in using a one-vendor platform to streamline their processes and wanted a solution that is integrated with ConnectWise PSA™ (formerly ConnectWise Manage).

Taking the lead on IT management with ConnectWise

Prior to switching to ConnectWise RMM, ANP was a ConnectWise Automate partner. Currently, they use a wide suite of ConnectWise products, including PSA, RMM, ConnectWise NOC Services, ConnectWise Control™, and ConnectWise CPQ™ (formerly ConnectWise Sell). “Everything we use is ConnectWise.”

One of the features that stood out for McCarthy is the device groups option within RMM, where they can pinpoint software that was installed within certain devices. For example, a level one engineer from ANP could easily use device groups to remove their previous antivirus and deploy ConnectWise MDR™ with SentinelOne to over 2,000 endpoints.

“Our technician felt that all he had to do was check a box—RMM did everything else. We expected the deployment to take at least a month, but it was completed in two weeks,” McCarthy explained.

Automation and deep customization in one solution

On top of this, ANP has completely removed their processes of installing updates manually. With RMM, endpoints get patched immediately if or when vulnerabilities are detected, largely reducing security risk. “We had a vulnerability recently, but we didn’t have to worry about it because the patch was applied in RMM,” said McCarthy.

Coupled with NOC Services that automatically handle and solve alerts, the engineers at ANP are more efficient at handling various levels of tasks. “We no longer have to spend time on low-level issues. Through the click of a button, NOC can resolve issues quickly.” 

When it came to providing access to PCs and internal IT teams for their clients, ANP felt that Automate was a great product, but RMM allowed them to carve out specific levels of access more efficiently. “With RMM, it’s hassle-free to separate access for various users from the get-go.”

Growing with the IT community

What ANP loves most about ConnectWise is their involvement with the IT Nation community. More specifically for McCarthy, it has helped him move from an engineer into a management position.
