PSA/RMM integration: Is the investment worth it?

Maybe you’ve heard the recent chatter around professional service automation (PSA) and remote monitoring and management (RMM) solutions not being revenue-generating products for technology solution providers (TSPs).

If that’s news to you, here’s what you need to know:

At the core of this argument is the idea that when you factor in the combined price of PSA and RMM tools, TSPs aren’t generating as much revenue as they could be. Basically, TSPs don’t need to make the costly investment in both PSA and RMM tools to generate revenue; they can do it with a PSA product alone.

At first, it seems like a logical notion. TSP owners would be saving money by going for a single RMM or professional services automation product at a cheap rate, instead of paying a higher cost for two (or more) solutions. But don’t be fooled. It’s important to understand the difference between a discounted price, and true value for your money.

How does PSA and RMM integration help TSPs profit?

IT companies have long relied on the combined capabilities of these tools, and there’s good reason for that. When you choose to invest in integrated solutions, your profit potential skyrockets. Here are just a few ways how:

  • PSA/RMM integration centralizes your data and helps automate redundant tasks
  • When redundant tasks are taken care of, your staff can focus on larger projects
  • Billable time is captured without additional steps, making billing quick and accurate
A real-world example

Integrated Computer Systems Support, Inc. (ICS) struggled with the dysfunction that comes with trying to manage operations with just a business management platform. They averted disaster to become one of Washington’s fastest growing IT businesses by choosing to invest in ConnectWise’s integrated RMM software and PSA solutions.

This decision to invest in PSA and RMM solutions resulted in the company not only streamlining processes; within 5 months, they generated more than $93,000 in additional revenue, paying off their four-year commitment, and setting themselves up for 27.5% YOY growth.

The ConnectWise difference

At ConnectWise, our mission is to fuel your success with innovative business management solutions and IT business best practices that are never skewed to get you to buy into a deal. We don’t think that’s something a dedicated partner in success would do.

We built our robust family of business management tools, the ConnectWise platform, to work seamlessly together to help your business reliably generate and capture recurring revenue with ease.

The original members of this family are the ConnectWise Manage® PSA and the ConnectWise Automate® RMM tool. Their powerful integration brings value (visibility, accountability, and boosted efficiency) to your business, so you can focus on your customers.

A PSA tool by itself just can’t do that.

According to ICS’s Director of Network Services, Chris Faist, the investment has been more than worth it. He says: “the thing about ConnectWise is everything relates to time: time entry, time capture, all of that became easier. It’s also a mindset change. It makes your people look at the value of time much more closely because there’s accountability.”
