Established in 1982, ConnectWise is the dominant IT solutions company in the Tampa, Florida area providing a full suite of offerings for small and mid-sized companies. Operating now as a separate division, their offerings include IT Services, Application Development and Consulting, as well as Managed Services for companies that want to outsource their IT function.
As ConnectWise grew, we began to experience an exponential growth in business complexity, and managing the details of our organization became almost impossible. At that point, we had significant concerns that we had too many balls in the air and that they all might coming crashing down at once. All the things that made our clients choose us in the first place seemed to be at risk. The decision to build our flagship product, ConnectWise PSA, came from the realization that we had to either hire a complete middle management team or we had to find a way to significantly streamline and automate our work. We chose the latter.
Initially launched in 1998, the product worked wonderfully, as measured by the percentage of net profit obtained every year, which far exceeded industry standards. Even so, our original intention was not to market the software. But when we demonstrated it at an industry show, the requests were overwhelming and we created a separate division and made the ConnectWise PSA solution available to IT solution providers nationwide.
