Lance Armstrong
Foundation Peloton Project |
 |
 |
| |
by
ConnectWise's Robin Brewer
Today, there are more than 10 million Americans living
with cancer and chances are you know one of them. This
realization has become all to clear to me lately. My
brother is one of the survivors, whom I have been lucky
enough to have gotten a second chance to become a good
friend and brother to once again. This good fate has
happened because of the Lance Armstrong Foundation. For
this I will be forever grateful. However, I have also
lost 2 dear friends this past year. One was only 34 when
she lost her battle with cancer after being diagnosed
just a few months prior. The other lived with the
disease for 6 years before losing his battle. This is
why I have chosen to join the
Peloton Project in order to raise both awareness and
funds for this wonderful organization. Now for the 2nd
year in a row, I will be participating in the 100 mile
ride at the Ride for the Roses in Austin this October
21-23.
Founded in 1997 by cancer survivor and champion cyclist
Lance Armstrong, the LAF believes that in the battle
with cancer, knowledge is power and attitude is
everything. From the moment of diagnosis, the Foundation
provides the practical information and tools people
living with cancer need to live strong. The fight
against cancer is not an easy task, but an organization
that bears the name of the man who came back from cancer
to win six consecutive Tours de France can aim for
nothing less.
So I ask that you please join me and my other sponsors
in supporting the Lance Armstrong Foundation in their
efforts by making a
donation. Your contribution will have far reaching
effects for those living with cancer, their loved ones
and healthcare providers. You can donate directly to the
project at this link:

Microsoft

Is
it time to upgrade your Firewall? |
 |
| |
You've
heard it before -- the only thing that is constant is
change. That statement seems to be particularly true of
technology. We want to share a announcement that we
received recently from Sonicwall about their product
line. Many of you have been protecting your network for
several years with their reliable firewall products. But
now, due to the ever-increasing sophistication of
hackers, hacking tools and security threats, it has
become necessary for Sonicwall to revamp their entire
product line to combat these new dangers.
No doubt you've heard about some of the newer threats
such as Nimda, Code Red, SQL Slammer, MSBlaster, SoBig,
MyDoom & Sasser. Some of these are so sophisticated that
they actually have the ability to disguise themselves as
legitimate network traffic which allows them to get
through many firewalls. Over the past few years these
exploits have affected millions of computers worldwide
causing billions of dollars of damage in downtime and
lost productivity.
Recently SonicWALL
has responded to these threats by developing scalable,
high-speed gateway anti-virus and intrusion prevention
for our TZ 170 and PRO Series security gateways.
SonicWALL has expanded its Gateway
Anti-Virus/Intrusion Prevention Service to include
protection from spyware! The new Gateway Anti-Virus,
Anti-Spyware and Intrusion Prevention Service for TZ and
PRO Series platforms integrates a configurable, high
performance deep packet inspection engine and
dynamically updated database containing thousands of
attack and vulnerability signatures to protect networks
against a comprehensive array of dynamic threats
including viruses, spyware, worms, Trojans and software
vulnerabilities such as buffer overflows, as well as
peer-to-peer and instant messenger applications,
backdoor exploits, and other malicious code.

How to Add Icons to the Windows Explorer Toolbar |
|
Want to be able to perform more tasks
with a single click in the Windows Explorer interface?
For example, if you map network drives often, you might
want to put the Map Drive icon on the toolbar. Here's
how: 1. Right click
Start and click Explore to open Windows
Explorer.
2. Right click the Toolbar (with the Back, Forward, Up, Search and
Folders icons) and make sure the toolbar is unlocked
(click Unlock the toolbars if necessary).
3. Also in the right context menu, click Customize.
4. In the list of available toolbar buttons on the left, scroll
down to find the button you want to add (in this case,
the Map Drive button). Highlight it and click the Add
button in the middle.
5. Click Close
and the new icon will appear in the toolbar.
You can remove icons from the toolbar by clicking them
in the right window and clicking the Remove
button. | |
