5 Ways to Improve Your Business NOW! By Jeannine Sullivan
Each new day gives you a chance to change your situation. Improving your business can happen on many different levels. You can increase profits, reduce losses, enlarge your client base or become more visible in your community.
Here are 5 quick tips:
- Define or redefine your focus: When was the last time you reviewed your business plan? Are you on target for the month, quarter, or year? Many times companies will define their business plan only to have it collect dust on a shelf. Take it out, do a comparison and make the adjustments needed to obtain your goals.
- Boost employee morale: Don’t underestimate the power of happy employees. Workplace morale is just as important as the service you provide. From your onsite techs to your accounting department, find ways to build a better team. Promote group interaction: pot lucks, bowling night or internal contests.
- Give back: When times are tough everyone is looking to cut corners. Host a lunch and learn to highlight a targeted IT solution, be active in your Chamber of Commerce or donate older equipment that’s taking up space. You’ll get the write-off and be the first company they contact when the budget opens up.
- Know your customers: When was the last time you were out in the field? Fancy cocktail parties and events are nice, but do your customers think you’re unapproachable? Spend the day on the road with one of your technicians or join a salesperson for an afternoon. None of us are above the day to day tasks that keep the business running.
- Start with the person in the mirror: You can’t change what you don’t recognize. Be positive, productive and supportive. If you are unhappy walking through the door every day, how can you expect to be an example? Set a goal to start walking or shut off the cell at night. Not only will you feel better, but you your mood and health will improve. Those changes will be noticed by everyone.
